When the three of us first dreamt of starting a Stand Up Paddle board company we all agreed that it had to somehow function to help the poor and needy. In fact we were more empowered and excited to help “change the world” through Pirate Coast then how to actually start a company. We loved the idea of one day providing a rural marginalized village of people in Africa clean water. So campaigning for clean water became our first “cause” initiative. The reason we chose water was 2 folds:
1.) 1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean water & 42,000 people die per week from unsafe water.
2) Water and Paddling boarding go hand and hand, so Paddling for Water seemed to be a good fit.
After a great first summer we felt September was a perfect time to start planning and preparing a Charity: Water campaign and event that could potential provide water well for the Bayaka people of the Central African Republic. Mark and Terence both have birthdays in September and agreed to utilize their birthday’s to help encourage people to give to the Paddle for Water campaign.
To our amazement we launched the campaign and within 8 weeks we reached our goal! We couldn’t be more grateful for the support and generosity of our friends, families, local businesses and fans of Pirate Coast.
100% of the funds you donated go directly to Charity: Water , who will in turn drill and build a well within 12 months from the day we reached our goal. The well will provide over 250 Bayakan people clean drinking water for over 20 years. So lives will surely be CHANGED.
On October 23rd approximately 30 people who donated to the Paddle for Water campaign will physically be paddling for Water at the Newport Aquatic Center. We’re so stoked for the event and even more stoked that together we helped change the world for 250 Bayakan people. Thank you for helping us change the world.
